This webpage is dedicated to providing UConn Stamford parents and guardians with materials that can help them serve as a “parent partner” in their student’s educational experience. The term “parent partner” is meant to describe the new relationship that will develop between yourself and your student. Given that students need to be at the center of their educational experience, by taking ownership of and responsibility for their education, you will be charged with the new task of helping them maneuver the challenges of a university.
The Office of Student Services would like to encourage you to become a “parent partner” by giving your student the tools he/she needs to perform as the young adult you raised them to become. It can be as simple as helping them with reminders of important dates or as complicated as helping them find the resources they need to work through a challenge. Though it can be a challenge at times to give your daughter/son full independence, in the end your active role as a partner enhances their ability to be successful adults.
